Fast More, Feast More
I know I complain about social media on occasion, but it can be amazingly efficient at connecting me (and others) with really interesting, smart and talented individuals. Case in point, I met Amy on Facebook through a mutual friend of ours. She posts fantastic thoughts on her page revolving around Fasting and Feasting.
Here are some of her latest posts:
I need to fast from suspicion and feast on truth.
I need to fast from bitterness and feast on forgiveness.
And my current favorite…
I need to fast from idle gossip and feast on purposeful silence.
I LOVE THIS!
(Thank you Amy for allowing me to share your wisdom and insight in this musing.)
Such a simple, small, easy-to-remember concept which involves deep introspective thought.
These got me thinking about what I should fast and feast on. The first thoughts that come to mind are:
* I need to fast from toxic, negative, self-righteous people and feast on open-minded, considerate, respectful people.
* I need to fast from quick assumptions and feast on allowing space in my brain to simply mull.
* I need to fast from the need to be right and feast on the real matter at hand.
* I need to fast from gossip and feast on sharing awesome things my friends are experiencing.
I’m also going to change the wording from I “need” to I’m “going to.” Oh what fun we will have if you all share your own thoughts on fasting and feasting. Simply fill in the blanks: I’m going to fast on ________ and feast on ______.
Thank you to my friend Kelli and my new friend Amy (and all your other wonderful friends I haven’t met yet.) This is going to be fun……
I’m going to fast on any excuses and feast on beast mode :))
Love this my young friend. Here we go… you and me both… ONE FULL DAY OF NO EXCUSES! Ready??? Bring on BEAST MODE!
I will fast on expectations and feast on acceptance.
I am going to fast from worrying and feast on trusting in Providence’s timing.
