Hi Miss Val! I had been doing gymnastics competitively until 2 years ago. I stopped for multiple reasons such as the divorce of my parents, injury, and the lack of support from my coaches. They discouraged my individual style and punished me for being quieter than my teammates. Looking back on it, I realize that this loss of confidence is what made me stop and not that I no longer enjoyed gymnastics. You and your team have inspired me, and made me realize how much I miss this sport. I am now doing ballet, and although I do love it,… Read more »
Thank you for the message Justine. It’s sad when our dreams are derailed because we listen to the negativity of others versus our own heart. I’m glad you’ve gotten back into the world of gymnastics as a spectator. I encourage you to find a gymnastics program that you can resume your training. It doesn’t matter at what level you train and compete as long as it makes your soul sing. Thanks again for the message.

Hi Ms.Val! I live In Ireland and am passionate about rhythmic gymnastics, and I was wondering would there ever be a chance that either ucla could make rhythmic gymnastics a sport in their college, as it I said one of the fastest growing female sports in the US, or would I have a chance, maybe when I’m older to be able to join the ucla artistic gymnastics team?
I am a huge fan of rhythmic gymnastics but I don’t think the NCAA will be adding it in the future. The NCAA is interested in sports that can house a large number of female athletes (for Title 1X purposes) Thank you for supporting us from Ireland. One of your gymnasts, Holly Murdock is one of my all time favorites! Happy New Year!

My daughter Alyson was at the banquet and enjoyed talking with you . We love you and UCLA gymnastics! I loved your Bruin Banter interview with Danusia. It was so inspiring and touching. We were also at Pauley on Senior Day when they honored you. You are a great role model for me, my girls, your amazing team and so many others. I look forward to following your website and reading the… Read more »
